San Miguel de Allende enters initial reopening phase

San Miguel de Allende has entered Phase 0 of its reopening. The destination clarifies that this does not mean the city is open to tourism, but that the city has begun activating the local economy for residents.

This initial phase will see the reopening of business infrastructure that affects locals. This includes restaurants, shopping centers, markets, public transportation and offices. It does not include hotels, bars, cantinas, clubs or pools. Residents must wear masks and practice social distancing, as well.

The door to tourism will reopen gradually and will be based on the number of infections. There is no firm date set for tourism to resume.
