I’ve traveled the world seeking the best of the best in all things cultural, and cuisine is a common denominator for travelers and foodies from around the world. San Miguel de Allende features over 450 eateries in our Pueblo Magico.

#1 Atrio Restaurant

Located in El Centro of the city at Cuna de Allende 3,  alongside the famous cathedral. It boasts some of the best views in the city,  really close up to the historic church. The design is all about the terrace and the casual elegance featuring breathtaking views and comfortable settings.  Canvas overstuffed sofas and large umbrellas are spread though the terrace alongside planted olive trees and striking landscape.

Atrio is one of the newer restaurants featuring an international cuisine with  Asian features infused to traditional gourmet Mexican dishes. Tacos Orientales, and many dishes highlight the deliciously prepared vegetables,  delectable seafood, fresh duck and assorted meat dishes. The appetizers are truly special and can be a meal when combined with a few selections. Excellent service, open for lunch dinner. Ideal place to enjoy the cocktail hour, in season, reservations are a good idea.

#2 Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar at The Rosewood Hotel

Luna Rooftop Tapas Bar is one of the most spectacular restaurants in San Miguel de Allende and is a destination to savor at leisure. A menu of authentically prepared International tapas sustains guests as they enjoy expertly prepared margaritas and cocktails.

This relaxing venue invites guests to linger and absorb San Miguel’s ever-changing colors and skyline views. Rich shades of terracotta, ochre, earthy browns and dusty pinks contrast perfectly with a vivid blue sky, then are transformed by magnificent sunsets. Throughout the day and night, this al fresco setting presents breathtaking views of the iconic La Parroquia, spires, bell towers and rooftops across town.

This is my favorite terrace in all of San Miguel de Allende for the breathtaking views and heavenly breezes.  The Rosewood brand showcases the casual elegance and historical importance of the city. It’s architecture blends into the Colonial Architecture and the 300 year old mansions found throughout this pueblo magico.

#3 Antonia Bistro at the Hotel Palomar

Antonia Bistro  SMA originated from the passion of Chef Alejandro Cuatepotzo to bring to

San Miguel de Allende a new culinary experience that offers a wide range of dishes, using traditional techniques, local ingredients and products of the highest quality.

From the terrace you can enjoy the best panoramic view of San Miguel de Allende; where you can see the main historical monuments accompanied by an excellent gastronomic proposal that combines the experience, innovation and talent of our entire team. For locals, travelers, young people and adults Antonia is a unique place where good conviviality is celebrated. We like to say that Antonia Bistro has a new experience.

Stunning panoramic views from this elevation on the terrace of this grand boutique hotel which was at one time a pigeon  coup after it was originally a a historic home  about 300 years ago. Reservations are recommended.

#4 The Restaurant

The Restaurant offers distinguished dishes of Mexican cuisine in a unique outdoor setting located in the central courtyard of the hotel, combining  the Mexican culinary tradition with a contemporary touch, using only the highest quality ingredients. Lunch from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

#5 Hecho En Mexico

By Far this is a landmark in San Miguel de Allende featuring some of the best Mexican Food in a delightful open air setting.  The food is consistently good and the staff  is  some of the friendliest in town.  The space is full of artwork which is rotated on a regular basis and the customers are made up of locals and visitors alike.

I enjoy frequent meals and have no problem dining alone at the bar when I am out and about. It’s a great place to take friends or meet people for dinner any night of the week.  Live music on the weekends featuring some fine classical guitarists and violinists.  Check out the website for the delicious entrees and side dishes.

The restaurant has been around for over 12 years and the owner has a winning formula for success.  Prices are quite reasonable and the quality is top notch.  I highly recommend Hecho en Mexico !
