Just 15 minutes drive away from San Miguel’s city center, heading north on the road towards Dolores Hidalgo, is a valued site that you shouldn’t miss.
The historic site played a major role in Mexico’s struggle for Independence: priest Miguel Hidalgo took from the church the Standard with the Virgin of Guadalupe, which became the flag of the insurgent armies.
Step inside and be amazed by the wonderful mural artwork, which has inspired many to dub this place “the sistine chapel of America”
