Aeropuerto Internacional de Guanajuato (BJX) is approximately 145 km (90 miles) from San Miguel de Allende, in between León and Guanajuato. It lies 20 km southeast of León and 30 km west of Guanajuato. Airlines that serve BJX from the United States are: Aeromexico, American Airlines, Delta Airlines and United Airlines. BJX lies between the cities of León and Guanajuato, the state capital.
Aeropuerto Internacional de Querétaro (QRO) is approximately 87 km (54 miles) from San Miguel de Allende. Airlines that serve QRO from the United Sates are: Aeromexico, American Airlines, Delta Airlines and United Airlines.
Another Airport Option is Benito Juárez Airport (MEX) in Mexico City (about 4 hours from San Miguel de Allende). The Mexico City airport has a larger selection of flight times and international airlines to chose from. Flights to Mexico City are typically cheaper than flights to BJX or QRO, but flying into León or Queretaro is considered more convenient.

To/From Mexico City: The trip to San Miguel from the airport in Mexico City is about 4 hours. If you arrive in T2 (International Terminal) exit customs, make a right and walk to the end of the corridor where you will exit and see the bus station entrance. If you arrive in T1 (the older terminal) go upstairs to the bus office to purchase your ticket and they will direct you where to get the bus.(ETN, Primera Plus) If you take a bus from either airport terminal, you will not go directly to San Miguel de Allende. You will go to Querétero and change buses there for San Miguel de Allende. (ETN) Prices vary so check the bus line websites for more detailed information.
If you want to go direct to San Miguel de Allende, take a taxi from the airport to the Terminal Central de Autobuses del Norte. Make sure that your bus is a "directo". (ETN, Estrella Blanca, Omnibus de México)
To/From Guanajuato: Buses do not run from the airport in Guanajuato (BJX) to San Miguel de Allende. Take a taxi from the airport to the central bus station in either Guanajuato or León and board a bus from there to San Miguel de Allende.(ETN, Primera Plus) From Guanajuato-Approximately 1.5-2 hours/ $68-$106 pesos. From León- approx. 2-2.5 hrs/ $145-$175 pesos.
To/From Queretaro: Buses do not run from the airport in Querétaro (QRO). Take a taxi from the airport to the Terminal de Autobuses de Querétaro (central bus station). If you arrive in Querétaro by first-class bus from another location, go out the front door and cross to the opposite terminal at the bus station. Follow the signs for the buses outside. Buses for San Miguel leave about every 20 minutes during the day, and every 1-2 hours in the evenings and the trip takes about one hour. (ETN)
To/From Laredo/Nuevo Laredo: Buses run from many large U.S. border towns to San Miguel de Allende. (Omnibus de México [ODM])
San Miguel de Allende's bus station, Central de Autobuses, is 1.5 miles west of town on the westward extension of calle Canal, called Calzada de la Estación.
*A special note about getting bus tickets: For long haul buses, you must purchase a ticket either at a bus terminal or online. If purchased online, print a copy of the actual ticket (not a reservation #) and bring it with you for varification at the bus terminal before boarding.
Taxis from the bus station to the center of San Miguel are 20 pesos during the day and usually 25 pesos at night into town and available at all hours.
